I opened Activity Monitor on my OSX to review the %CPU being used, and noticed that VirtualBox VM is running anywhere between 98-106% of the CPU:. The issue is that if 3D acceleration is not made active, the CPU ends up being overburdened.

Experimental support for hardware-accelerated DirectX inside VirtualBox also exists. It is called WineD3D and supports only DirectX-8 (not 7 and not 9 !). 3D Mark 2001 is known to work. This will allow to reach 90% of native speed, so this is very fast solution.

Unity 3D's window is completely blank (white) and the program is unusable; I know D3D support is still experimental and limited, but this is not the big issue here In Unity 3D I go to File/New Scene => the whole VirtualBox crashes
