Jun 22, 2004 · Windows 2k has native support for reading UDF 1.50, XP probably the same, so there shouldn't be any need for writing fs device drivers as such. I'm not up to the task myself, so I don't really know UDF 2.0 and higher is not (yet) supported. One big advantage (among many others) with UDF is ofcourse the support for >2GB files.

May 24, 2017 · By default, the Windows UDF Driver (implemented in the \Windows\System32\Drivers\Udfs.sys file) supports UDF versions up to 2.60, providing read-write support for DVD-RAM, CD-R/RW, and DVD +-R/RW drives when using UDF 2.50 and read-only support when using UDF 2.60. Check if you have the proper version of the UDF and CD-ROM driver:

Nov 04, 2014 · I don't think there are plans to fix the UDF multisession bug on XP which is currently out of support (unless you have an Extended Service Agreement with Microsoft), or ship another Windows Feature Pack for Storage for XP.
