Locale support. For a working internationalization / localization support you need locale support in your C library. The environment variables LC_ALL, LC_xxx, LANGUAGE and LANG are used to set-up the localization of the user environment. uClibc-ng has experimental locale support, you need to enable UCLIBC_HAS_LOCALE; musl has locale support

The name is partly historical, since uClibc was originally created to support µClinux, a port of Linux for MMU-less microcontrollers such as the Dragonball, Coldfire, and ARM7TDMI. These days, uClibc also works just fine on normal Linux systems (such as i386, ARM, and …

uclibc locale support. I was wondering what you guys think about enabling locale support for uclibc/alpine. One use that I’m looking at is to be able to have a ‘smooth display’ for the new aport testing/speedometer, which makes use of UTF-8 characters if locales are available. Of course, it seems silly to enable locale support for just ...

Jun 28, 2015 · For good working > locale support there is still GNU libc and musl. > > Signed-off-by: Waldemar Brodkorb <[email protected]> While on principle I'm not opposed to deprecating locale support in uClibc altogether. However, we've had locales working in uClinc so far, it's only with uClibc-ng that we started to have build failures (AFAICS).

Jan 12, 2009 · The problem I'm facing is that, uClibc-0.9.30 tries > to download locale support files ("uClibc-locale-20081111-el.tgz") from > uClibc's download page which is not available there and hence it fails. Ah, my bad. I was going to produce these and it got buried. (My todo list runneth over.) I'll go poke at that a bit now...

I recently turned on locale support in my uclibc build, and after recompiling everything, I am getting the following unresolved symbols when trying to run commands like python: python: symbol '__ctype_b': can't resolve symbol in lib 'python' I am new to locale support and am unsure how to hunt this problem down. I see that __ctype_b_loc is now defined.

One very exciting new feature is nearly complete locale support, thanks to a lot of hard work by Manuel Novoa III. uClibc's locale support is much smaller than glibc's, though it is also slightly less flexible. This release was delayed by a month due to the arrival of a new baby at Erik's house.

the change set /changeset/29633.html introduces an additional flag for the uclibc. So if locale support is globally activated then UCLIBC_HAS_LOCALE will be activated. There are 2 dependency properties: UCLIBC_HAS_XLOCALE and UCLIB_HAS_GLIBC_DIGIT_GROUPING.
