Im currently using a Lenovo IdeaPad P400 Touch and created a LiveUSB version of Ubuntu 12.04LTS and I'm wondering how to get the touchscreen working on ubuntu. I have read a couple of forums and saw answers for Ubuntu 13 and I'm also aware it has an issue with the time it takes to recognize the touchscreen device.

Currently Ubuntu 12.10 works better on XPS12, though screen auto-rotate still does not. To remedy that you can try doing an update from Project Sputnik repository, which provides some improvements. Then again Sputnik focuses on 12.10, so I don't know exactly how much help it will be for 13.04.

May 30, 2015 · This is a rugged laptop I picked up from ebay for a good price, which the seller wiped with Ubuntu 10.04 due to the expense of Microsoft's Windows relicensing fee. The device has an integrated serial touchscreen, and the manufacturer is notorious for hiding any and all documentation on legacy devices such as this one.

Sep 04, 2017 · Ubuntu includes an Xorg xserver input driver in the package xserver-xorg-input-evtouch for Dapper, Feisty, Gutsy, Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty, Karmic, & Maverick (for x86 and x86_64). This will work with many of the ELO touch-screen drivers, both serial and USB.

I think Ubuntu GNOME is the best flavor of Ubuntu if you are running in HiDPI mode 3200x1800 with a touchscreen. All screen captured images are at HiDPI resolution. Since I prefer the standard gnome-session experience, I installed the "gnome-session" package and rebooted the system.
