When I bought mine, it had Twonky Media Server. I had to manually upload a new server to the MyBook, which made it possible to play mkv files to a Samsung tv. If you have a Samsung tv, you should see if you have Twonky or if you don’t. If you don’t have Twonky, I’d guess you have the WD Media Player. GUESSING though.

Oct 15, 2015 · Otherwise about the only other suggestion I have at the moment, if the SRT files display properly on other devices that access the WD My Cloud, is to check the Twonky Server settings on the WD My Cloud to see how the Twonky server is treating your TV in the “Media Receiver Type” field under Sharing -> Media Receiver.
