This is working as designed. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology (IRST) controller software doesn't include support the Windows TRIM feature in RAID 1. TRIM enables the SSD to handle garbage collection overhead, if TRIM is not enabled it will significantly slow down future write operations to …

Jun 04, 2018 · 1. As you can see from above, many hardware and software RAID implementations do not support TRIM, so it's moot and we have to proceed with our designs under the assumption that we don't have TRIM. 2. Even in some newer systems that do support TRIM, if you have a heavy 24x7 stream of I/O activity, TRIM will never get a chance to take effect.

If the Hex Value is 1, the drive supports TRIM. If the Hex Value is 0, the drive doesn't support TRIM 1. 1 The 34-nm series Intel® Solid State Drive (Intel® SSD) drives with firmware 02G9 show the Hex Value as 0 because this firmware version does not support TRIM.

The macOS RAID driver does not support TRIM. This is true for all versions of Mac OS X from 10.7 through macOS 10.12.x. TRIM is supported for RAID (0,1,4,5 & 10) volumes when using the third-party SoftRAID® application, including TRIM support with non-Apple SSD devices.

Now, RAID5 does not give the best performance and is rumoured to not be best for SSDs, so I am looking at a Raid 10(1+0) setup which would give me 720gb (240gb * 3) I need to know how I can set this up with Ubuntu 12.04.01 LTS using software raid and to make sure that TRIM support (Discard I think its called in Linux) is enabled for the raid ...

As far as RAID controllers that support TRIM I think Intel are wrong there, there are RAID controllers that support TRIM in pass-through mode but then it's not really a RAID controller if it's working in HBA mode.

Enterprise HW RAID cards w/ TRIM support for SSDs. Hi folks, We have a pair of Dell (samsung) 100GB enterprise SSDs w/ a PERC 6/i and it doesn't seem to support TRIM. Is anyone aware of any hardware RAID cards that support passthrough of TRIM to SSDs in RAID 1? Thanks! 17 comments. share. save hide report. 73% Upvoted.
