Mar 22, 2018 · Broken transom knee brace. Post by Sho » 22 Mar 2018, 00:16 Thanks to all that have chimed in. This is the transom saver I bought. It screws in to the trailer frame so I would think I'd only have to make sure the other end was secure.

Mar 28, 2018 · The transom saver is bungee corded around the LU you hit a pot hole and the motor jumps up and the transom saver comes with the motor when it flies up and it comes off the frame of the trailer and motor slams down all the way to the bottom of the tilt setting as the transom saver is no longer attached at the bottom.

most of stress on this design is in the upper transom with the wide span of unsupported transom,,,mostly seen in v bottom hulls most of our tunnels have the top deck attatch to the top of the transom which strenthens and boxes the transom for full support,knee braces only needed,,,,as shown in this photo of 1 of my tri hull racers i build 121803

Apr 22, 2014 · Hey Guys, Just bought an old 60's valco in great condition, but whoever the prior owner was apparently didnt know that copper reacts with aluminum, and had a sheet of copper mounted next to my brace on the transom, which pretty much completely disolved it.

Check the bottom of the hull at the keel where this knee brace attaches to it. It may also be deflected. But I doubt it.
