Apr 12, 2018 · When I asked the dealer about putting a transom saver on the boat I just ordered, I was told a transom saver isn’t needed. Said the motor mfg recommends against it because it transfers all the trailer’s vibration to the motor. He also said something about the G2 comes with a way to lock the motor trim (I think) in place for trailering.

Feb 08, 2015 · I have never seen any actual proof one is better than another, but IMHO the transom saver is better over all as it supports the engine and lower unit completely. I've been using a transom saver for 12 yrs on a 200 HP and then 13yrs on a 150 HP. Just like I use a support for my electric trolling motor head, same concept.

Mar 31, 2014 · Transom saver for sure. The stress of the leverage of the motor on the transom wont be alleviated by a wedge. A properly set up transom saver will transfer the stress from the motor off the tilt/trim cylinder and transom to the trailer frame.
