That is why I am wondering if you can have too much arch support? My arches have always been bad, when I was a kid my feet were almost flat but I always wore shoes with big arches to help support them. Pain, even in the arch, is most likely due to too little room, not to arch supports. A foot has three arches. Biomechanists sometimes describe the foot as having three arches.
