Jan 24, 2011 · With Exchange 2003 it is an all or nothing affair. If you enable it for all email, then probably 90% of your email will fail to be delivered - most recipient servers do not support TLS. Exchange 2003 doesn't do opportunist TLS.

Sep 10, 2009 · I have been asked to setup TLS for exchange 2003. I could not spell TLS before the request came through and need some help on getting this done. We need to redirect specific emails through specific pipes and my CIO has said that this is the best route. Anybody know how this should be done? Got any good links to on-line tutorials.

We are running a Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 (wich includes Exchange). Since the Exchange 2003 Server does not support SSL encryption natively we had to install stunnel (free download from http://www.stunnel.org) and to configure the Exchange Server to send outgoing mail to stunnel rather than directly to the ISP. stunnel then encrypts the email with SSL and passes it on to the ISP.
