You checked the box "Use secure authentication" in your account settings, but the server does not support any of the secure authentication methods that Thunderbird supports. Thunderbird supports GSSAPI, Kerberos, CRAM_MD5, DIGEST-MD5, NTLM, and APOP.

That was a message from the gmail server. It is talking about the outgoing server which you are using on that particular email address. * Right click on the gmail mail account and select 'Settings' * Bottom left Pane, click on 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' on the right you will see a list of your outgoing servers.

Sep 07, 2014 · I thought SSL/TSL implies a secure connection. What does it mean to use "Normal Password" vs "Encrypted Password" in "Authentication Method" when using "Connection Security: SSL/TSL". One of the servers I use only accepts "Normal Password", however, Thunderbird does not give the "server doesn't use encryption" warning.
