    Jun 23, 2014 · Contrary to popular belief, selecting a 32-bit OS does not disable longmode in the virtual CPU. If the VM is powered on with longmode available to the guest, then it cannot be vMotioned to a host where longmode is not available to the guest. To disable longmode for this VM, power it off and set the following advanced configuration option:

However, if the option has been enabled but you are still encountering the issue, check if the ESX is a standard machine that is on the hardware check list (HCL).     Jan 29, 2014 · Re: your cpu doesn't support long mode use a 32 bit distribu. 1) 64-bit guests need hardware-virtualzation enabled in the hosts bios. 2) when creating the 64-bit guest you must select 64-bit in General -> Basic -> version. 3) If running Windows as host you must make sure hyper-v or xp mode is not enabled on the host.
