The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present. The missing subsystem in question is Windows on Windows 64 (WOW64): the compatibility layer allowing 32 bit apps to run in the 64 bit OS. The question is: would it be possible to install WOW64 in WinPE? If so, how, and how big is the set of files to be installed? Thank you.

Solved: Bios upgrade in 64bit winPE? - Lenovo Community

"The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present." I am aware of the battery driver requirement and have accounted for that, but in this case the problem seems to be that winuptp.exe is a 32bit program, and winpe doesn't load the WOW64 subsystem, so it can't run 32bit programs.

The subsystem needed to support the image type is not present means that you are running a 32bit .exe in a 64bit KBE. I also recommend putting cctk in the kbe using kbem, and not just because I wrote it ;) Corey Lead L3 Enterprise Solutions Engineer, K2000 If my response was helpful, please rate it!
