Aug 12, 2015 · If I right-click on the speaker icon, and select "Playback Devices," the HDMI Audio is not listed. It's usually listed as something like "Denon Receiver - Digital Audio". Anyway, I've right-clicked in the Playback Devices dialog and made sure that I have both "display disconnected devices" and "display disabled devices" checked.

If HDMI does not appear in the list of playback devices after the tv has been connected and both the tv and laptop powered up, right click in the white area of the playback device list (to open the context menu) and look under "Show Disconnected Devices" or "Show Disabled Devices" and see if it is there.
