Why can I not install ncurses development package? Nov 29, 2007 · But there is NOTHING TO INSTALL to provide termcap support on Ubuntu - nothing from Ubuntu and nothing from GNU - because TERMCAP IS OBSOLETE. So this appears to be a BUG and the directions in the 2nd edition of the Asterisk book will FAIL FOR EVERYONE NOT USING CentOS (apparently.)

Thank you for the bug report. The issue is that the ncurses stuff isn't instaled for to find which name Ubuntu uses for that library I did: apt-cache search ncurses and I found: libncurses5-dev - Developer's libraries and docs for ncurses and installed it with: apt-get install libncurses5-dev On my side also I needed to do the same with OpenSSL stuff: apt-cache search openssl apt-get install ...
