Nov 29, 2007 · But there is NOTHING TO INSTALL to provide termcap support on Ubuntu - nothing from Ubuntu and nothing from GNU - because TERMCAP IS OBSOLETE. So this appears to be a BUG and the directions in the 2nd edition of the Asterisk book will FAIL FOR EVERYONE NOT USING CentOS (apparently.)

"configure: error: *** termcap support no found (on modern systems, this typically means the ncurses development package is missing)". When I try to install it by: apt-get install libncurses5-dev I get the message that package cannot be found.

Another question is why doesn't Ubuntu support the more "popular" shells?. routes, rather than the termcap database and the termcap library. Hi: I am trying to build gdb on Fedora 14. I get an error: "no termcap library found" I have not been able to find a good answer by Googling.

Thank you for the bug report. The issue is that the ncurses stuff isn't instaled for to find which name Ubuntu uses for that library I did: apt-cache search ncurses and I found: libncurses5-dev - Developer's libraries and docs for ncurses and installed it with: apt-get install libncurses5-dev On my side also I needed to do the same with OpenSSL stuff: apt-cache search openssl apt-get install ...

I have found a work-around to cross-compile gbd, since I was only interested in crosscompiling the gdbserver, I went to that folder(gdb/gdebserver0 and using the cofigure there located, with my cross-compiling options, I hadn't got any trouble and now I get the gbd server for arm.
