Aug 21, 2014 · My uneducated guess: The hinge gets loose and sloppy and causes issues with closing the tailgate, where in theory the flexible multi-strand cable is more durable. But as I understand it, the crimp is the part that usually breaks, not the cable itself. So that's kind of a fail.

Sep 11, 2017 · Been searching the forums and the interwebs but nobody has listed any type of heavy-duty option for tailgate support. I'm aware of the Mobtown reinforcement but that's not my issue... I regularly carry my dirtbike in my 15' DCSB and notice lately that it's hanging a little lower... like made contact with the top of my bumper.
