Apr 23, 2011 · In XP you can toggle this mode by pressing Alt+Enter. Doing that in Vista just gets you a message “This system does not support full-screen mode”. And it’s true; the Windows Vista Display Driver Model (WDDM) precludes support of the necessary video mode. There is a kind of solution, and it’s even recommended by Microsoft.

Dec 04, 2012 · The exe runs OK in Windows XP but not in 32-bit Windows 7, I get "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'close' to terminate the application." Our IT people don't allow us to use XP mode, nor use DOSBOX. If it is possible, I need a way to get setvideomode to open a window and not try to open in fullscreen mode.
