You can also configure more than one LAG on the same switch, or add more than two Ethernet links to the same LAG (the maximum number of links per LAG depends on your device). Some network devices support Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP), which helps to prevent errors in the link aggregation setup process.

With LACP support on a vSphere Distributed Switch, you can connect ESXi hosts to physical switches by using dynamic link aggregation. You can create multiple link aggregation groups (LAGs) on a distributed switch to aggregate the bandwidth of physical NICs on ESXi hosts that are connected to LACP port channels.. Figure 1.

Nov 16, 2007 · PAgP and LACP Modes. This section lists the user-configurable EtherChannel modes for the channel-group interface configuration command. Switch interfaces exchange PAgP packets only with partner interfaces with the auto or desirable mode configuration. Switch interfaces exchange LACP packets only with partner interfaces with the active or passive mode configuration.

Aug 09, 2007 · The device can be a switch, a switch stack, a workstation, or a server. Within a single switch chassis, the EtherChannel can start or end on different modules. This setup is applicable for Cisco Catalyst 4000/4500/6000/6500 switches. Within a single switch stack, the EtherChannel can start or end on different stack members.

Mar 13, 2014 · Also the router doesn't support LACP, so as I am purchasing a switch I would like to get one that supports this. I wasn't sure what the best brand to get would be. Also, I think i'll need to get a switch that is more geared towards "business" use rather than a consumer level.

The LACP support on a vSphere Distributed Switch 5.5 lets you connect ESXi hosts to physical switches by using dynamic link aggregation. You can create multiple link aggregation groups (LAGs) on a distributed switch to aggregate the bandwidth of physical NICs on ESXi hosts that are connected to LACP port channels.. Figure 1.

Link Aggregation Control Protocol. Within the IEEE specification, the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) provides a method to control the bundling of several physical ports together to form a single logical channel. LACP allows a network device to negotiate an automatic bundling of links by sending LACP packets to the peer (directly ...

LACP, defined in IEEE802.3ad, is used to combine multiple physical links dynamically as a logical link, and thus this logical link will have higher bandwidth and higher reliability. Here we take an example to clarify how to configure LACP feature between two TP-Link switches. Application Scenario
