The SVG spec is extensive and no browser currently supports the entire spec. That being said all the latest versions of all the major browsers have basic SVG support. Since none of them have complete support you'll need to check individual features in each browser you're targeting.

.svgz are simply gzipped svg files. The only caveat in their use is that the web-server delivering them has gzip enabled and is able to correctly set gzip headers. All (well IE8+!) browsers support the format itself. We're venturing into stackoverflow territory here, but enabling gzip on your server is likely as easy as pasting this into .htaccess:

Support for compressed svg will vary by browser, but you need to configure the server to properly flag the svgz file with information about its encoding to explicitly tell the browser how to decode it upon receipt. Server response for svgz needs to be configured to include "Content-encoding: gzip"
