Nov 23, 2012 · I am trying to install SQL server 2008 R2 on Windows 8 laptop. At starts only its giving error, SQL server 2008 R2 is not compatible with this OS version. I tried to search for SQL server 2008 R2 with SP1/SP2 but only found SP1/SP2 installer and not not with server.

Oct 24, 2013 · The key word and tricky phrase is UnauthorizedAccessException. It sure looks like a security issue. But, just in case, you should check that the version of SQL Server you're trying to install is supported by your OS. If you're trying to install Enterprise on Windows 8, it won't work.
