Jun 10, 2013 · I had exactly same issue. I found that "Windows Installer" service in (services.msc) was disabled. I went ahead and changed it to "Manual" Startup type and then reran the setups agains.This time setups ran successfully.

May 26, 2010 · I ran into a similar issue but not on XP SP2. This was on Server 2003 R2 SP2. The server had .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 installed prior to the SQL Server 2005 install and this seemed to be the cause of my issue.

Jul 08, 2016 · The file was downloaded from Microsoft Website and is copied on the C Drive. I have tried manually installing using command prompt etc with the same issue. I know SQL Server 2005 is no longer in support and not officially supported in Windows 7 but it was working fine and it's the only thing that works with the legacy software we are using it with.4/5(2)
