I've been doing some work with Hibernate 3.5 and Spring 3 recently, I'm fairly new with Hibernate and thought the HibernateDaoSupport class in Spring made it nice and easy to use Hibernate with my domain classes.. However, while searching for an unrelated question I saw someone mention that the HibernateDaoSupport is not the best way to use Spring and Hibernate.

Jan 12, 2005 · I am using hibernate with spring transction magement. I extend the HibernateDaoSupport class and use the getHibernateTemplate() method to find, save and update objects in to the database. But it does not provide a direct way for me to create criteria instead of writing queries.

Aug 25, 2005 · My software developers use the HibernateTemplate and HibernateDAOSupport classes to combine Spring 1.2 final and Hibernate 3. I wanted to hide all session management and transaction management from them, so we used a configured transaction interceptor, also by Spring. All was well until we decided upon using the Criteria interface by Hibernate.
