mp3 reading works fine for me. I also note that mp3.c includes sox_i.h which includes soxconfig.h . So i don't understand how come adding soxconfig.h to mp3.c solves the issue for you. Enclosed is a patch that allows SoX to encode (using external library LAM= E) and decode (using external library MAD) MP3 files. Many encoding parameters (bitrate, quality etc.) are the default ones, be= cause SoX's command line does not allow to set them.

I've been using SoX successfully for quite a number of years, but version 14 brings with it problems never seen before. I'm running several different Slackware Linux machines -- some with the default gcc 3 compiler, while others have gcc 4 that I've compiled and installed myself.
