Mar 07, 2013 · As we all know, PLAYBAR doesn't support DTS audio. If you feed it DTS, you simply get "unsupported" as the input type and silence from the speakers. For my birthday today, I received a Superman blu-ray box set and looked forward to watching the movies in HD and PLAYBAR surround sound. Unfortunate...

Feb 12, 2013 · There are no TVs on the market that support DTS I'm aware of. Nonetheless think of linking a BD-player directly (or through a splitter) that either puts out Bitstream (DD or DTS) or only 2.0 PCM. Playbar not supporting DTS means no sound at all if source is a DTS track or switching to 2.0 PCM for everything in most cases.

Jan 10, 2018 · I'd like to see Sonos support DTS not because I need it (lost my blu ray player in a move and have been all streaming since) but because I think they should stay competitive. If they're competitive, they can keep making money to spend on developing new products for the rest of the line. ... The PLAYBAR and PLAYBASE do not support the DTS format ...

Dec 03, 2018 · I would jump right on a complete update of both of my Playbar's if the received HDMI inout like the Beam, and DTS, Dolby Atmos, and the other very upgraded sound support and decoding. Sony, Tamaha, and others are doing it and jumping o sales for SONOS, SONOS went public and have to answer to shareholders now, maybe they should start to listen.

Sep 05, 2013 · DTS support is a key feature that really is needed if the Playbar is to be sold as a surround-sound product. It is a clear oversight and will continue to cause issues that require an unnecessary degree of knowledge about the issue to work around it and also limits the partnering equipment significantly in order to produce a working solution.

Since the Sonos PlayBar and PlayBase don't support DTS decoding, you won't be able to output a Dolby Digital signal from your player to the PlayBar or PlayBase in order to get discrete surround sound from DTS-encoded movies. However, there are a number of players (notably several models made by Samsung and Sony), which offer a feature called ...

Apr 13, 2014 · Hi Donovan. I'm not trying to defend the Sonos position, and I'm aware of the pass-through issue. As my earlier post pointed out, you can avoid pass-through by using a digital optical switch. But the Playbar's lack of support for DTS sabotages this unless you have a Blu-ray player that can transcode DTS into DD5:1.

Mar 07, 2017 · More then half my movies have DTS encoded audio. PLEX supports DTS, my Samsung TV can pass DTS. I too would be a Playbar/Playbase customer if Sonos only added DTS. I bet they don't want to pay up for the DTS licensing - which is crazy considering the cost for the Playbar/Playbase, it should support everything.

Sep 02, 2015 · The Playbar is made for people who are not hardcore Home Theater enthusiasts and Sonos has repeatedly stated they are not going to support DTS on the Playbar. Period. Now you can do two things*: Keep banging your head against the virtual brick wall, or you can get over it and move on.
