Aug 07, 2019 · You do realise that even in a 1 -1 - 2 + jungler situation your top laner can do it really badly and in such a situation there might be a good idea to actualy change the plan and make the top laner become position 5 and safe lane support become position 4. Compared to lol, dota 2 doesn't actually have a fixed meta lane setup.

The harder the support, the less gold they have usually, and they are usually the ones who buy wards, dust and smokes. Noone calls them soft supports, they're usually in the 4 position. They go for the meks and can aim a little higher since their farm isn't gimped as much as the hard support.

The main difference is that soft supports aim for some items like blink, mek, pipe and hard support only aims for wards and stuff. IF Hard support gets a lot of kills/assists then he can go for soft supports items like a mek but still he is in charge of warding.
