Sitecore CMS 6.5 does not support SQL Server 2005. Sitecore CMS 6.5 and DMS 2.0 require SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2012 or later. I would suggest that you do a seperate clean install of Sitecore 8.0 with a clean database, because so much have changed since Sitecore 6.5. 1) Build a new Visual Studio solution based on this new installation of Sitecore, and make sure you copy and include all your old files in this new solution.
