Nov 21, 2014 · In SharePoint, there is not an OOTB web part to display .svg files. If you just want to upload the .svg file into a page, you can edit the page and upload it via Insert->Upload File. If you want to display the content of the .svg file in the page, per my knowledge, you need to develop a custom web part or use a third party web part to achieve it.

Office 365 started to support SVG format recently. Saving an Office file with SVGs in it shouldn't cause any problems anymore. Btw: If someone needs to export a document to PDF, it is still recommended to use EMF as vector graphic format, since PDF doesn't support SVG natively.

If you have illustrator, it should be easy to check if an svg has a 'clipping path'. Let's say you have an svg icon, open it on Illustrator, hit 'a' to use the 'direct selection tool' and try to select one of the corners of the 'artboard'. If you can select it and it isn't part of the svg/icon, it's probably a clipping path.
