May 12, 2011 · I have tried to install server certificate SHA256 + RSA 2048 in IIS 6.0 + Windows Server 2003 (SP2) but I was not successfull. I also installed the hotfix 968730 but it did not help. If I make a request of certificate from IIS, the request is made with SHA1 certificate (instead of SHA256 as I need).

Oct 22, 2007 · Up till 2005 SHA-1 was the only hashing algorithm supported by X509 standard, so not having SHA-256 support in Windows 2003 was not really a hassle. But now I learn that SHA-256 will still not be supported in X509 for Vista or even Windows 2008.
