Podcasting with iTunes requires byte-range request support.I'm assisting someone who is having trouble getting their podcast accepted by Apple for inclusion in their iTunes store, and it was suggested that their web server is not currently supporting byte-range requests.

I have read all over that Apache allows Byte-Range support from default. However I am unable to stream any of our audio files nor am I able to add them to a podcast on itunes because it says that Byte-Range support is not enabled on my server. I have tried looking around to find a solution to this problem but can't seem to find it.

Apache has Byte Range Requests enabled by default and it is enabled on all our Linux Hosting options, including Shared, Reseller, SEO Hosting, VPS & Linux Dedicated Servers. Windows Hosting. Oct 02, 2012 · It's difficult to find out about byte-range requests: you can test for it, but only once you've been able to put media files up there (unless you can find media files belonging to someone else the same server). Whoever you go with you should ask about this before committing - Apple will reject your podcast if the server can't handle this.

The caveat here is of course that a client may support ranges but choose never to send a Range header to the server in which case the server cannot know. All that said, I would have to question what use is it to the server to know if a client supports Ranges. If the client does not request a Range then the server should not send a Range.

It also says Byte-range support The server for your episodes must support “byte-range requests”, which enables podcast apps to fetch media in chunks. This is required to support streaming, and is required to be promoted in iTunes. Hrmmm, the “0” status code was unexpected. Can you please report using the "?" in the lower-right corner?

Now, I know this is a common error, I understand why and what causes it and I've already read all the threads on here but I am none the wiser.
