May 16, 2017 · I called Comcast to troubleshoot this and they told me the modem was obsolete and unsupported and I'd need a newer modem to get the advertised speed. After I fixed the computer issues, everything worked fine. Keep in mind that Comcast doesn't want to support this modem and may just disable it at some point.3.9/5(22)

Lucky me, Comcast is the only option where I live, so I decided to buy my own modem (Motorola SB6121). Called in tonight to activate and was told the rep could not activate it and I'd have to buy a newer one, as they no longer support that model.
