Feb 12, 2011 · To load XP-Pro, I had to use the SATA driver disk that came with the mobo. XP can be such a pain in the Bxxx! But, yes, 98/SE ran just great on the SATA drive. .... so is this the main problem with an older notebook ... having a motherboard that doesn't support SATA or can I download SATA drivers to make the SATA drive work?

Aug 14, 2008 · Hello, I am after help making A Bootable CD so that I can update my motherboards BIOS. Windows ME boot disc does not support NTFS or SATA (so i can't access the disc after it has booted nor the Hard Drive), The images provided by Microsofts website are designed for diskettes and I dont know any program that will burn them all to a disc.

Just a consideration if you're looking into hardware. It's not the 80 - 110 MB/sec sustained I was hoping for (silly me) with RAID 1/0 SATA, but its infinately better than spending a few days to try and get better than 1-3 MB/sec out of my Seagate SATA, and if you don't have SATA RAID on your MoBo, the SATA RAID cards are rediculously priced.
