When I downgraded the OS from Vista to XP on my Compaq C762NR, I had to disable the Sata native support. But when I enabled it back after I properly installed XP, the notebook couldn't boot from the hard drive. I can only boot when it is disabled..

Jan 18, 2013 · SSDs (I'm told) must have the SATA Chipset set to AHCI in the BIOS. However, I'm also told that Windows does not by default support AHCI, and that the registry has to be edited to make it so. Can anyone confirm that this is still the case. I would prefer if Microsoft had made this support enabled by default. thanks
