I have searched all over about this issue and everything I have found is in reference to messages which are too long (more than 160 charachters) or messages which contain some media (pictures, video, etc).

if you typed 300 characters for example that could result in 3 pages or 3 messages; the receiver would be charged for 3 messages. Anyways I sent a huge text message to him and this was a message I got: "message delivered to xxxxxxxxxx as plain text. Destination does not support enhanced message service" (again his phone is a Samsung Fascinate)

Not all VZW devices support the ability to send messages > 160 characters or EMS (Extended Length Messages). Today, most feature devices support this capability but many Smartphones (e.g. most RIM BlackBerry devices, Windows Mobile devices, etc.) do not support this functionality

Phone not ringing for phone calls. No tones for texts. Texts or Picture messages delayed or just not sending. Battery Overheating. Slow/laggy performance . I have contacted VZW numerous times but the problems persist. Am I stuck with this crap till September.

Jan 29, 2008 · What happens is this: The text messages take forever to get through, and when they do get through I receive a message back saying "Message delivered to [her phone number] as plain text. Destination does not support enhanced messaging service." This would be fine except I know for a fact that her phone DOES support enhanced messaging.
