The Java Plugin for web browsers relies on the cross-platform plugin architecture NPAPI, which had been supported by all major web browsers for over a decade. Apple's Safari version 12 and above have dropped support for NPAPI, and therefore Java Plugin do not work on these browsers anymore.

Sep 25, 2017 · I apparently automatically got the Safari 11 update on my iMac and now access to our ERP is impossible. It's a Java based ERP that launches from the browser. I have already checked the Preferences > Websites and told the Java plugin which pages it is allowed to load in.
