Feb 02, 2007 · How do you upload via FTP in Safari? I can't find ANYTHING in the Safari Help pages about FTP. No mention of it whatsoever. Yet, I know it can be done. I entered my own FTP address into the Address Bar and typed in my username and password. I successfully "logged in" to my own webspace. I could see all my files and folders.

Having a hard time finding much about this doing a search. Is it just me or does Safari on iOS not know what to do with a ftp:// link? It seems to work on Android, but tapping the link in Mobile Safari just tells me: You do not have permission to view "/". This is an FTP that requires authentication.

There are various reports from users on our mailinglist that they have problems downloading OpenOffice.org using Safari the default browser for Mac OS X. Safari isn't capable of directly downloading from FTP servers so Safari passes download requests for files from a FTP server through to the Finder, the Finder connects to the FTP server and fails.
