I have a Dell T3420 with Windows 10 Pro on one hard drive. I added a second hard drive to the Dell, one that I had bought from Open World Computing. The hard-drive is recognized by Dell Support Assistant and Windows 10. My goal is to install RHEL on this second hard-drive Please see attached pic from diskmgmt.msc. I made sure both drives are non-RAID.

Aug 13, 2009 · Array configuration: 4*750 + 1 spare in RAID 5 (more that 2 TB). I have to install CentOS to this machine. After many unsuccessfull attempt I think that CentOS 5.3(or later) have no way to install on a GPT partition with /boot on GPT device.

Some of these Blades are supposed to have Windows Server 2008, some RHEL 5.3, and some a dual boot of both. The WS2008 only installs have gone just fine. ... If you don’t add GPT support in Linux kernel, after rebooting the server, the file system will no longer be mountable, or the GPT table will get corrupted. By default, Redhat Enterprise Linux / CentOS comes with GPT kernel support.

Partition type 0xee is a dummy entry in a MBR partition table, telling non-GPT-aware things that the disk is occupied by something they won't understand.. The version of GRUB in RHEL 5.5 will not understand GPT-style partitioning: it will only know about MBR. If you need to support systems that are this old, the standard recommendation is to virtualize them if at all possible.
