Dec 03, 2012 · is it possible to remote into a ms surface unit running windows 8 rt either by "remote assist" or an app fr windows store? i am looking to purchase the unit for my mom but would like to know i could remote into the unit to assist her should she have trouble as i would when he has an issue w/ her laptop. i know the ipad doesnt allow for this so i assume not but thought i'd ask to be sure.

I just created a simple PPTP VPN on my firewall and setup a support user. The remote tablet connects to the VPN (the connection is pre-setup before it is sent out) and the PC attempting to remotely support also connects. Voila, both devices are on the same subnet and you can remotely support the tablet.
