Aug 20, 2009 · The remote SMTP service does not support TLS. This topic contains 1 reply, has 2 voices, and was last updated by Virtual 10 years ago. It sounds to me that the SMTP service on the Exchange 2003 box now uses an incorrect certificate. TLS allows authentication using a certificate.

Mar 15, 2016 · From a quick Google I don't think IIS SMTP supports opportunistic TLS, which is kind of surprising but then again maybe not. Tbh I wouldn't let the IIS SMTP service anywhere near the internet anyway, I would look at setting up some kind of perimeter relay based around Postfix or if you want to use Windows look at stuff like hmail or xwall or mailenable or basically anything other than IIS.4/5(37)

Jun 11, 2010 · One option you might consider, since IIS is already installed on the WSUS Server . . . enable the SMTP Service on the WSUS Server and configure the WSUS Server to relay through the local SMTP Service. Since an SMTP Server -to- SMTP Server connection would not require SSL/TLS this may allow you to bypass the requirement to use TLS.
