These patches enable 64-bit smartcard support for both rdesktop 1.4.1 and 1.5.0. They apply against an rdesktop patched with the scard-20060626 patch (see patch #1314556 for 1.4.1, make sure you get the latest one, or patch #1576059 for 1.5.0).

rdesktop works great to login to my Windows 7 Enterprise system and passes the ActivKey USB Smart card with no problems. Once the session is started, I can login to VPN and authenticate to websites on the remote system perfectly.

newer versions of the "rdesktop" utility have the ability to pass on a smart card to the remote windows machine, using the "-scard" switch. You'll of course need you reader and smartcard to be accessible/readable by the linux machine you're connecting from.

Feb 03, 2009 · Unfortunately, MS Remote Desktop Connection for Mac does not support smart card log-in. However, you may also have a problem with your Mac not recognizing your smart card. To check if your iMac can read your card, insert the card into the reader and launch "Keychain Access" on your Mac (Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access)
