Nov 25, 2010 · For a CPU to work in a ThinkPad, it has to be physically correct in size and pin-out (yes, it's socket M in this case) and the BIOS has to support it. Furthermore, R60e's came with two chipset variants. One had the 940GML chipset, the other the 945GM. The 940GML mobo has been reported to support only Celeron and Core Solo T1350 CPUs.

Mar 12, 2014 · for r60e machine types: 0657, 0658 & 0659 looks like the "core" models are detailed as: Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset while the celeron models are detailed as: Mobile Intel 940GML Express Chipset If you have a machine with 940GML you´re out of luck. You can use CPU-Z or Everest32 to see what chipset do you have.
