18 SNMP Support. SNMP (Simple Network Managing Protocol) is a widely implemented feature for collecting network information from router and/or host. Quagga itself does not support SNMP agent (server daemon) functionality but is able to connect to a SNMP agent using the SMUX protocol (RFC1227) or the AgentX protocol (RFC2741) and make the routing protocol MIBs available through it.

Since the default Quagga package in Ubuntu doesn’t have SNMP support enabled, the Quagga package has to be compiled locally. The following instructions may work for Debian as well but I only tested it in Ubuntu Server 14.04 LTS.

Nov 24, 2010 · Quagga itself does not support SNMP agent (server daemon) functionality but is able to connect to a SNMP agent using the SMUX protocol. I want that quagga support SNMP agent (daemon snmpd) without installing other software, I mean, if you install Quagga software in a PC, immediately you can send "snmpget" or "snmpwalk" to that PC and receive the answer.
