    The gdal 1.6 distributed with osgeo4w is supporting ECW. I know to read ecw is however necessary to download the codec from erdas site. But now it seem that download and install of ecw codec is not sufficient to open ecw with qgis-dev. Seem the gdal-ecw is missing for gdal 1.7.

    I want to keep using the OSGeo4W version of QGIS since it contains the filegdb write option which i can't get to work in the other installment of QGIS. UPDATE Tested other plugins which seem to be working well, also tested that gdalinfo is using the 1.9.2 version that Geoserver needs to use and that it has ECW format support. Still not working.

    Can I open ECW files with QGIS?¶ Yes you can… BUT depending on your Operating System, it is more or less difficult. If you are under Windows and are using the OSGeo4w installer, it is included.
