I double checked and Putty does NOT support 3270 or 5250. There are thousands of telnet client products like Putty. However, there are only a few that support IBM specific terminals and I don't know of any that are free. Some are shareware or very inexpensive. One free way to do this is to install Cygwin and install the X-TN3270 client.

The 5250 proxy uses the private keyring file associated with this certificate on the first stop and restart of the HMC. If the HMC Management Manage Certificates task is later used to create a new self-signed certificate or used to import a certificate signed by a Certificate Authority (CA), the HMC must be stopped and restarted to apply the new private key to the 5250 console proxy.
