May 18, 2016 · The original PS3 phat model could not bitstream either DTS:X or TrueHD audio and had to decode these formats onboard and output the results as LPCM. However the PS3 Slim can bitstream both, but not if the Blue-ray is a 3D film. The PS3 cannot bitstream TrueHD if the video content is sequential 3D as used for 3D Blue-ray titles.

The PS3 has always supported Dolby TrueHD, since it was first launched. The way it supports Dolby TrueHD is by expanding it to full uncompressed PCM format, and sending that PCM signal to a receiver or processor over the HDMI cable. Mar 29, 2018 · I see some xbox one version of games support atmos but not only ps4 like ACO. Thats very lame and disappointing consider ps3 support superior pcm 7.1 for the entire generation . The only small slight hint of a possibility of ps4 atmos support is zone of the enders 2 mars because the JP site specifically said dolby atmos but not on the english page.

Nov 17, 2013 · Yeah, there wasn't any on the intro, and I looked on the back of both cases and no mention at all, which tells me they aren't supported. Oh well, they still sound great, just odd since almost every PS3 game I have has Dolby Digital support. I'm really surprised noone else has pointed this out. Maybe its just about the graphics these days.

That may be true but most gamers don’t use 4K HDR TVs but they support that. I just want the option to play games with Atmos. Besides the licensing fee to Dolby and tweaking the audio designs I can’t imagine it would be that much trouble to implement.
