The Easter-Egg messages there get chopped off in 16:9 mode. (There's an example video of them where the player jumps up and down so the whole message can be seen.) I thought I had a list of the type of widescreen support the PS2 games had, but can't find it on the PS2 wikia at the moment. Hor+ is what you want. Primal and Ghosthunter support that.

The rest of the Widescreen games are something else. They're probably 16:10 as that was the PC wide ratio at the time of the PS2's conception. Either way, all the TV's i've used have two wide settings and PS2 games display properly on the default "Widescreen" rather than "16:9" display.

Mar 18, 2015 · On the Dreamcast, where games are easily burned and run on unmodded hardware, many commonly available rips have had this flag added to support 480p even if the original developers didn't bother to include it. I imagine many PS2 games would be modded to support 480p as well if it were easier to run unpressed discs in the console.
