From what I found on the net, there was someone recommending cycling shorts to help support a prolapse BUT they did say they shouldn't be tight above the hips and they should be the 'low waist variety'. Other sites have shown prolapse supports with the 'holding' band low on the abdomen, saying this offers support to the pelvis as well.
