Pressure support ventilation (PSV) is a flow-limited mode of spontaneous but supported ventilation when the ventilator transitions from PEEP during expiration to a higher inspiratory pressure target that is maintained until the inspiratory flow decreases to a predetermined percentage of its peak value.
