I have read on other forums and i get different answers or mixed answers on the subject of dual quad core processors running on a dell precision 690. On one hand people are saying that the 690 OMY171 Rev A02 is the only revision of the motherboard that can in fact run dual quad core xeon processors.

Oct 03, 2016 · My board must be the Rev A02 MY171. Two of the X5355, 2.66 GHz, FSB 1333 MHz, L2 8 MB, work perfectly. I have been doing a lot of reading on this model of the precision workstation and I have found that this board and revision, and chipset have no reason not to support the X54xx, with 1333MHz FSB series.

Jun 03, 2017 · hello, i have an old dell precision 690 and i wish to upgrade the cpu. i have intel xeon 5130. as far as i know, im only copitable with 51xx series and 53xx. i compared the 5160 to others 53xx models and i was quite surprise that it got a higher score on cpuboss.com that sounds weird for me, the 53xx have 4 cores..
