Jan 23, 2013 · The support group has been going consistently again since summer 2017. Overall it’s been weekly since 2004! It is peer support group style–everyone has or had a form of “PPD” whether it’s depression, anxiety, panic, scary thoughts; scary birth, feeding difficulties, ongoing pain… we talk about it.

Oct 27, 2011 · At the PPD Support Hawaii support group though, women identify with the other flavors too–anxiety, panic, OCD and PTSD. Actually, the majority seems to have one of the anxiety types, and/or PTSD versus the cant’-get-out-of-bed depression. In fact, the name, “PPD” makes it harder to find help when one doesn’t feel down or depressed.

Inadequate social support. Having to care for a child with a difficult temperament. Low self-esteem. Other less predictive risk factors include unplanned or unwanted pregnancy, being single, lower socioeconomic status, and postpartum blues. Remember that these risk factors don’t actually cause PPD.
